Caitlyn Walsh
Teacher

Caitlyn Walsh is a vocalist, choral director, and yoga instructor based in Chicago, IL. She is thrilled to expand her practice with the YAM community!

 

Caitlyn earned her Master of Education and Master of Arts degrees in music education with additional coursework in movement science from Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in vocal and instrumental music education from Northwestern University with a minor in Leadership Studies and Civic Engagement. She currently serves as a high school choral director, fine arts coordinator, and physical education teacher in the Chicago suburbs. During the pandemic, she implemented a Yoga & Mindful Movements P.E. course with a holistic curriculum that empowers students to foster their own physical wellness and emotional wellbeing both on and off the mat. When she is not working her full-time job, she maintains an active schedule as a voice lesson teacher and freelance singer. 

 

Caitlyn is also a Yoga Alliance 500-hour certified instructor who regularly teaches yoga and fitness classes at CorePower Yoga. Her daily practice includes leading and taking a variety of  vinyasa, hot power fusion, yin, sculpt, and strength formats. She is particularly passionate about yoga’s benefits for performing artists and frequently presents at colleges, conferences, festivals, and workshops. She completed additional trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness training through Breathe For Change and Eat Breathe Thrive and leads K-12 educator professional development sessions at the district and state level.
